Can't Come Back - Chapter 24
It was becoming dark. Berlia, dressed in a black shawl, knocked on Cain’s door as usual. Cain was always the one to take the lead when the two of them planned arrangements for the night. Cain would either ask her to his room or go out of his way to find her. This was the first time Berlia had gone looking for Cain on her own.
“Berlia?”
Cain’s eyes filled with surprise when he confirmed that Berlia had entered his chamber. He hadn’t expected her to come to him, especially after embracing her impulsively at the royal ball. He was concerned that his actions could have harmed her.
‘At the end of the night, the tears she poured…’
Berlia had misconstrued Cain and Claudia’s connection during the ball, believing they were more than friends. Cain had rushed after her, but he couldn’t bring himself to fix her mistake. He wondered what good such an excuse would do for their relationship.
I was so angry by the circumstance that I embraced her forcefully.
Cain, on the other hand, couldn’t shake the wave of sorrow that washed over him. Berlia believes he has feelings for Claudia. Regardless, what would she think if she saw him hugging her? Shouldn’t he have come up with an excuse?
He thought they were becoming closer, but the notion of them drifting apart again because of what occurred at the ball broke his heart.
He felt as though he had ruled out all options of continuing any form of relationship with her, emotional or physical. Cain had no idea how to modify the situation. He wondered if things had become irreparable after Berlia married his brother.
‘I can’t tell her how much I like her.’
What would my brother’s wife’s reaction be if I told her I liked her? He just couldn’t say it. Cain agreed as he gazed at Berlia.
Berlia, who had silently entered the room and closed the door, opened her mouth.
“Cain, I have something to tell you.”
Cain’s eyes shook as she said.
Berlia had visited Cain’s room for the first time around a month earlier, and the mood had changed.
‘Has she come to say that they should call it quits?’
It was sour. But how could he keep her? Cain made the decision to accept the circumstance. It was entirely his fault.
“I… I feel something for you…”
Berlia’s voice was trembling with difficulty. The words were difficult to come by. She debated in her thoughts dozens, hundreds of times whether it was truly appropriate to say this.
Cain had handed a letter to her at the time. However, it had been almost three and a half years since that happened. She questioned if it was appropriate to delve into the past.
Since Ransel’s departure, Berlia had fought with these ideas alone, night after night. She couldn’t bring herself to tell Ransel she preferred Cain in the end.
But, after much thought, Berlia decided to tell Cain about her thoughts.
She wanted to know what was going through his mind when he delivered the letter back then. If there was even a speck of affection for her at the time, if it was true…
Even if Cain didn’t want to hear the confession just now.
Wouldn’t it be alright to be a little more greedy if this relationship would only last three months and then end? To be completely honest?
“I really like you, Cain.”
Berlia’s voice echoed quietly around the room. Cain’s eyes widened when he heard her remarks. Dean wouldn’t be back for another two months.
‘I said it,’ she thought. ‘What should I do now?’
Berlia could feel Cain in front of her.
‘It’s natural to be nervous, but…’
The words had already been said. She couldn’t return them.
“I realize I shouldn’t be saying this in a three-month relationship. After all, I am your brother’s wife.”
‘Since it has come to this,’ Berlia said, revealing all the emotions she had held buried.
“Actually, I realize… our relationship should never have begun in the first place. But I, I…”
Her voice was drenched with sobs. Cain waited for Berlia to complete her sentence. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing from her.
Berlia, did she just admit her emotions for me? If she shares my sentiments, then…
“I really, really like you, Cain.”
Berlia’s cheeks flushed as she finished speaking in a shaky voice.
Regret for the three years she could only view Cain as a family member.
Sadness at her situation, in which she had no choice but to settle for a relationship for the sake of pleasure.
Guilt for confessing despite knowing about Cain’s romance with Princess Claudia.
Anxiety over not knowing the consequence of this revelation.
Cain, who was hearing a declaration of love from his brother’s wife, was afraid of how he would react.
And the love that welled up within her for Cain, making it hard for her to remain silent.
Her tears were tinged with all of these feelings.
Berlia paused after speaking to await Cain’s reaction. She was concerned about what he would say.
“…Berlia.”
Cain called for Berlia. A tear from her cheek dropped to the floor.
Cain stretched out with his right hand and wiped a tear off Berlia’s face. He made a slow step toward her. Then he knelt and kissed her. It wasn’t the passionate, desire-filled kiss they’d enjoyed previously. His lips momentarily brushed hers before pulling away.
Cain then wrapped his arms around Berlia. Thump, thump, thump. Their beating hearts could be heard by one another.
Cain opened his lips and his breath caressed her ear.
“I also have feelings for you, Berlia.”
While in his arms, her eyes trembled as she heard his confession. Berlia was stunned by what she had heard. Cain has feelings for her? But wasn’t he head over heels in love with Princess Claudia?
“However, you and Princess Claudia…”
“You got it wrong. Claudia and I are only acquaintances.”
Cain’s grip on Berlia strengthened.
“I wanted to tell you so many times that it was a misunderstanding. Vera, I’m delighted I can tell you now. You are the one I love.”
“Hic.”
The man she had secretly loved revealed his feelings for her. What might possibly have caused this? It was as though a beam of happiness had pierced her existence, which had been filled with pain. Berlia sobbed once again in Cain’s arms.
Their lips touched one again. It was a passionate kiss this time. Their mouths opened and their tongues entwined without hesitation. Berlia’s tears poured towards her mouth, and a salty flavor lingered on the tip of her tongue. But that was more comforting than anything else for both of them.
“Ah, ah…”
Soft murmurs escaped their mouths. Cain sucked on Berlia’s lips, as if he wanted to eat them. Berlia reacted to his more passionate kiss.
They clung to one another and craved each other, but it wasn’t enough. They were hungry for each other. They desired to be closer together. They want everything from one another.
They both wanted to be certain that this was not a dream.
Berlia’s waist was massaged by Cain’s hand.
“Ah,” Berlia moaned softly. Cain removed Berlia’s nightgown as if it were a signal. The flowing slip cascaded down her body and landed on the floor. Cain’s thin underpants had already been removed with a few flicks of his fingers.
Berlia felt a momentary cold after removing the clothing that had been covering her. But she was immediately engulfed by Cain’s warm body heat as he embraced her.
Cain carried her onto the bed as if she were a delicate thing that may shatter with the least error. The silky sensation of the blankets against her back was comforting. Berlia raised her eyes to Cain, who was now on top of her.
Theirs was no longer a physical entanglement for the sake of pleasure.
“Cain…”
Berlia reached out and took Cain’s clothing off. His strong physique was exhibited. They embraced one other as they returned to their most basic form. Cain placed his lips into her neck, inhaling deeply as though attempting to completely absorb her perfume.
“Vera,” Cain quietly said. He ran his tongue over her earlobe while slowly touching her waist.
“Ah, ah!”
It was an odd experience. Her body jerked automatically whenever his hand brushed her waist. Despite the fact that her nipples were not aroused, she felt damp down below. Berlia shifted her torso and crossed her legs unconsciously. The strange sensation in her ear was difficult to tolerate.
“Cain, hurry up…”
Berlia enjoyed the delicate touches, but she really wanted him to penetrate her.
Cain’s member was standing proudly, having been revealed by Berlia’s removal of his garments. It, too, desired to penetrate her. Cain’s finger went nearer Berlia’s intimate area, which was already tinged with excitement.
“Ber…lia!”
Cain yelled her name as he inserted himself gently into her. As it separated the walls of her vagina, his penis took its position. Berlia felt as though something that had been lacking was being supplied as he filled her.
“Ah…! Oh…”
He started moving softly, exciting her inner walls. Cain’s hot and big member crammed Berlia. Even though it was just for a moment, she felt a feeling of sorrow as his penis slipped out, as if something she had once owned had departed.
When he pushed back in, it was like jigsaw pieces fitting together flawlessly. His appropriate size gave her both joy and pleasure.
“Uh…”
He did not move rapidly for whatever reason. He examined Berlia softly, holding her securely. Berlia wished Cain would hurry up. She wants greater stimulation.
“Faster, Cain…”
Cain was pushed by the words she spoke. Cain plunged into Berlia fast, as if he had been waiting for her to make the initial move. Her legs swayed in the breeze.
“Ah, ah, ah!”
“Haa, Vera…!”
Cain quickly pulled out and handed Berlia over after a few moves like this. Berlia regained consciousness and found herself face down on the bed sheet.
Cain had both hands on Berlia’s hip. He then entered her again, this time while she was resting on her stomach with her hips slightly lifted.
