Can't Come Back - Chapter 55
Cain shivered as he put his penis in her body. He’s dangerously close to his climax. Cain was about to let the proof of this tense pleasure of his body into Berlia’s.
It was right before he reached his peak,
Cain opened his eyes wide all of a sudden. It was weird. Unlike before, when the sounds of flesh hitting each other and moans filled the air, the place was too quiet. Berlia, who had been happy and moaning every time he moved, also vanished in front of his eyes.
He looked around with a confused look and found himself inside his tent. Then Cain was able to figure out what had just happened.
“Was it all a dream?”
Cain shook his head and sighed. In his dream, he had been fucking Berlia.
“I must be losing my mind.”
He had only been in this country for about a month. He missed Berlia so much that he hugged her in his dreams. He gave a big sigh. He didn’t even know it, but he missed his lover more than he thought.
“Perhaps it’s because I spent the night before I left with Berlia.”
Cain looked at his legs and feet. His penis was standing straight up, showing off its pride. If he had slept a little longer, he might have reached his peak while still asleep.
“I have to move faster tomorrow.”
Even in his dreams, he could feel how warm she was. Cain couldn’t wait to get his hands on her. He missed Berlia.
* * *
Berlia’s face no longer showed worry or doubt after meeting Cadelin and returning. She didn’t want to wait for him and worry about him constantly. Instead, she tried to help him if she could.
“Cadelin said that most of the time would be spent caring for hurt soldiers.”
There were going to be soldiers who got hurt on the battlefield. Also, there always seemed to be fewer people to care for them.
But Berlia needed to find out if helping out would get her to where Cain was. On the other hand, she might end up somewhere else. Even so, Berlia chose to go to the border area, even though all this was happening.
The day after that, Berlia started to pack. She didn’t know when news from Cadelin would arrive, so she thought it would be best to get ready ahead of time.
“I might want to look for some books before I go.”
Berlia had this sudden thought as she was getting the things she needed. Even if the treatment was easy, knowing a little about medicine could help.
“Studying a little bit about basic medicinal herbs will help, even if it’s not very deep.”
There might be books in the library that go with it. Berlia then went to the library.
‘Now that I think about it…’
Berlia suddenly remembered her time with Cain as she walked to the library. Before telling him how she felt about him, just talking about dinner together made her nervous and worried.
‘Cain was there when I opened this door handle.’
She was in front of the library before she knew it. When Berlia opened the door, she felt Cain would be inside. She slowly turned the knob.
‘…He wouldn’t be here now, of course.’
It was quiet in the library. Even though Berlia knew it was true, Berlia felt a strange sorrow.
“I didn’t come here to do this, so let’s find a book quickly.”
Berlia looked carefully at the names of the books as she stood in front of the bookcase.
“Herbs, herbs, herbs…”
She started looking for books about herbs and moved her body from left to right as she looked through the shelves carefully. She was at the right end of the frames before she knew it. When it was time to look at the lower shelves, Berlia’s eyes suddenly moved slightly to the side.
There was a lot of empty room between the bookshelf and the door. Others saw only a wall, but she saw more.
-Have you been waiting since before?
She felt like she could hear Cain’s voice in her ear as she looked at the wall. She had come to this library with an invitation to the royal party, and they had touched each other here.
-I thought I’d done enough to make you happy last night, didn’t I?
He had said it to her in a whisper. When Berlia thought about that time, her face turned red right away.
“I’ve got to be crazy. Why am I this way?’
Once she remembered that moment, she kept going over and over what happened next. From the memory of Cain turning her body to the pleasure he gave her to the part where he lifted her body and put his penis in it, Berlia violently shook her head to get rid of the thoughts.
Cain had been gone for only a month, and she didn’t know why she was suddenly acting this way. It seemed it was because of what had happened the night before she said goodbye to him.
‘Sigh… Let’s first try to find the book.’
She finally stopped thinking and bent down to look at the lower shelves. She could see books that Cain had touched everywhere, like ones about swordsmanship, business, trade, etc. Even though Cain wasn’t there, there were still signs of him everywhere.
“It’s not bad finding Cain’s traces like this.”
She noticed one in particular as she looked at the books he had touched one by one.
About ‘how medicinal plants are used in general’…? Hmm. This book is good enough.
Berlia took the book up. From the title, it looked like it had the information she was looking for. She took the book and sat down where Cain always sat, in front of the desk.
As Berlia slowly opened the book, she focused on what was inside. There was a lot of helpful information in the book. There were many different kinds of medicinal plants, some of which were good for burns, helped stop bleeding, sped up the growth of new skin, and so on. All the information helped care for troops on the battlefield.
“When will I even memorize all of these?”
She hadn’t realized how much there was. She was being greedy when she tried to remember everything. But even though she knew the truth, she wanted to read the whole book once she opened it.
If she could, it would be nice to have the book with her, but she wouldn’t have time to look through it one page at a time in an emergency.
“I’m going to have to go to the library daily,” she said.
She chose not to be lazy about studying and kept reading the book until the day before she left. And as she turned a few more pages, Berlia saw a chapter title that caught her attention.
“So, depending on the type of poison, there are this many different ways to treat it.”
She had been sick for a few days and lost her baby because of a drug that Riley had given her. Since she had a bad experience with poison, it was customary for her to look into it.
“Huh…? This is Undeum, right?”
Berlia’s deep study was put on hold.
“Undeum is a detox herb…”
She didn’t know that the Undeum flower’s leaves were used as a detox plant.
Undeum was a significant flower to Cain and Berlia. Berlia became interested in reading.
When she turned to the next page, she saw it. Someone tapped on the door of the library.
“My lady, we have a visitor.”
“A visitor? But I don’t have any plans.”
She looked confused when she heard a guest come to the house. Today, there were no guests planned. Since neither Dean nor Cain is there, anyone visiting the home must be here to see Berlia.
“But here’s the thing…”
Betty’s face showed that she was a little worried. Was there a guest who could make things hard for Betty? Berlia was interested in who the visitor was.
“Betty, who is giving you so much trouble?”
“The person who came to see us says she is the… the… princess…”
When Berlia heard that Claudia was coming, she got up with wide eyes. She left the library right away and ran down to the lobby. She had come to see the Princess. Cain might have been hurt or killed. Her heart beat fast because she was scared. Berlia threw open the door to the waiting room without thinking.
“Oh, so you’re here?”
Claudia took a sip of her tea and looked at Berlia while she looked calm.
“Why did you show up here so quickly? Has there been a problem at the border?”
Berlia asked in a very hurry. Claudia replied by shaking her head.
“Don’t worry about Cain. Instead, he’s doing well, just like he said.”
“Oh… That’s good to hear.”
Berlia’s shoulders, which had been tight, dropped in relaxation. She walked over slowly and sat down on the other side of Claudia.
“More than that, I heard you volunteered to go to the border.”
“Have you heard the news, Princess?”
She had just talked to Cadelin the day before. She didn’t know how Claudia knew, but the word got around too fast.
“You see, I’m in charge of this. Since Count Adrian is at the border.”
Count Adrian was in charge of putting people along the border in their proper places. Claudia was to find the women and send them there.
“You’re taking care of this yourself, Princess?”
Berlia was surprised that Claudia, part of the royal family, would do something like this alone.
“The empire’s business is just as important to me as my family.”
Claudia spoke up. Due to the war, her father, the emperor, and her brother, the crown prince, were busy every day. She also couldn’t sit around doing anything, so she had taken on other jobs besides this one.
Could I ask her to show me where Cain is? Berlia’s lips were wet. But it wasn’t easy for her to say. She wasn’t sure if she should make such a request because of her feelings.
“Do you want to say something?”
Claudia was the first to ask Berlia. She looked like she knew what Berlia would say. Berlia opened her mouth slowly.
“…Could you maybe point me to where Cain is?”
When Berlia asked Claudia to do something, she nodded as if she had already thought of it.
“Just as I thought, you want to go because of Cain. But… even if you aren’t fighting, the battlefield is perilous. You could be caught in a trap, and if things go wrong, you could end up as a prisoner of war. Are you sure that’s all right?”
Claudia spoke up. Cain went to her school, so she knew about his skills. If she stayed in the city, Cain would return without being hurt. Berlia didn’t have to take a chance by going to the border.
