Doctor Resignation - Chapter 12

It has been a week since I came to Casseus’ mansion.

In the meantime, Erhan has been surprisingly healthy, except for the fact that he once collapsed due to dizziness and was seriously ill.

When Erhan began to have a cold sweat, Perelman gave him some prescriptions and asked him to rest in his room.

“This situation just frequently happens.”

Erhan felt drugged by Perelman’s prescription and lay on the bed with his eyes half closed.

However, I am not happy to see this little child suffer.

“You will be fine tomorrow morning.”

While things like this kept happening, I knew that he would die.

Therefore, even if Perelman left this territory now, there was no telling when Erhan would recover.

“Lise, you can go now. I will stay here.”

“I don’t want to. Madam can go and rest now because I heard that Madam has an important task for tomorrow morning.”

I sat beside Erhan’s bed as I started soaking the towel to lower his temperature.

“I’m a doctor’s assistant. Last time, I also stayed up all night taking care of Young Master. ”

The Duchess felt a little hesitant but finally nodded and left the room after saying, “Very well.”

So I stayed up all night by Erhan’s side.

“……Lise?”

Erhan suddenly woke up in the middle of the night with a pale face. His midnight black eyes stared at me.

“Sleep, Master Erhan.”

I patted his hand as my green eyes gazed back at the precious little boy.

“Today….., this time, and next time….., are you still going to stay here?”

“Yes, I will stay by your side until you regain your health.”

Erhan stretched out his hand helplessly.

‘You look like a baby……’

I smiled as I held his hand.

“Yes, I will hold your hand like this. Go back to sleep now.”

“Okay……”

He closed his eyes again and muttered. “……stay here.”

“I will.”

Erhan woke up several times that night just to see if I was still by his side.

Such a deep and lonely night had passed.

I couldn’t find any other symptoms that night either.

The cause of the disease is still unknown.

Of course, this does not mean that there are no possible factors. Since I stayed up two nights taking care of him, Erhan started to open up to me.

Besides, Erhan was spending his decent lifestyle as I wanted him to be.

That’s why every day we seem to be living our life really well.

“Wow, Master Erhan! You seem to be faster than yesterday!”

I’m not very fond of kids, but there are lots of kids who follow me in the orphanage.

Rubbing Erhan’s sweaty hair reminded me of how I took care of some kids in the orphanage.

Erhan looked at me with a happy smile and asked, “But you said you were going to play with me. Then I don’t want to sleep early tonight.”

“You have to sleep early to be strong.”

“Is that so?” Erhan’s eyes narrowed at me. “So you’ll be with me tonight, right?”

“Yes?”

“I sleep soundly when I hold your hand.”

I got a little embarrassed.

I’m just trying to help. Holding hands helps to fall asleep quickly.

“Last night when I was sick, you held my hand and I got better.”

It was because of Perelman’s prescription. 

I tried to clarify that point, but Erhan didn’t give up.

“I’ve been feeling better lately.”

Erhan smiled and continued, “Even today, my dizziness is completely gone. I guess it’s because I slept well.”

“Well…… I repeat, sleep is one way to get back more energy and enough sleep keeps you healthy.”

I worked really hard to get him to understand my explanation, but in the end, I said, “Okay, I’ll be with you tonight until you sleep.”

This conversation is repeated. Maybe tomorrow we will return to square one.

I didn’t think it would be a problem if I slept alone, but Erhan insisted that I should be next to him.

“Not just tonight, but continuously.”

“……well, o-okay,” I answered lightly.

I think this boy will feel good if he sleeps well after suffering from insomnia for a long time.

“But you still have to go to bed earlier.”

‘That way, you’ll be taller and stronger.’

He seemed to have a better complexion and a richer expression than I had seen him for the first time.

‘If I raise him well, he will look cool.’

I was lost in thought when I saw him drinking water.

I think it’s okay to satisfy a little personal greed.

Erhan, who I saw for the last time before I returned to the past, was too unattractive that he wasn’t worth raising.

So if you want to be healthy, I will make you according to my taste……

‘Your physique is great, so I think you can grow even better. I like a muscular body. Then tall and strong…… His voice should be a bit lower when he’s in puberty, right? So I have to take care of his throat. I had to ask them to put some lemon in the sandwich with good spices.’

Suddenly the appearance of a young man with decadent black hair came to mind.

I have a very good memory, but I don’t know why my ideal type suddenly appeared in my mind.

‘Have I seen a patient like that before? That’s weird. I will be able to remember someone handsome.’

When I glanced at the thirteen-year-old Erhan, I laughed to myself.

“Climbing is also a sport?”

Suddenly, Erhan asked me a question and I quickly stopped my thoughts.

“Of course.”

“Then can I go to the hill behind the castle tomorrow?”

“Great. Do you want to go there?”

“Yes.”

“Then let’s go tomorrow.”

Erhan’s smiling face was filled with joy.

I stroked his cheek and smiled brightly.

Behind the castle, there is a small hill near a mountain.

“Erhan, are you okay?”

“Yes.”

I can see him running out of breath, but he just shrugged and walked.

Two knights are escorting us from behind.

“Did you want to come here?”

“Frederick said there were a lot of berries here.”

“Oh, really?”

I walked arm in arm with him. My eyes sparkle and I get excited when I hear about berries.

“Then I will have to pick a lot.”

“I thought you’d like it.”

“What?”

“The last time you had dinner, you saved the fruit dessert.”

“I’m from the orphanage……, I save it when it’s good.”

The sky is blue with a few fluffy white clouds because the weather is nice. The sound of birds chirping could be heard here and there.

Erhan’s hand that tightly gripped mine felt warm. We walked while hearing the chirping of birds peacefully.

“I’ve never had a picnic this relaxing before.”

Hiking up the hillside, we decided to take a short break.

We sat side by side in a sunny spot while the guards prepared the picnic baskets.

“Good.”

“This is great.”

Erhan came back and gave me another berry.

“Even if it’s hard, I feel good moving my body and getting some sunshine.”

“See, I am right.”

I smirked and said to make up for the berries I received.

“I picked the Birdi leaves when I came. It will help you grow if you eat it. Eat this.”

“……this looks weird.”

“But you said you’d do everything I told you to do.”

He took a bite of the herbs and puked it out as if it was tasteless.

“It’s bitter. It doesn’t taste good.”

“Oh, don’t talk more and just eat.”

I forced him to eat Birdi leaves.

“Instead, I will play the flute and make a ring with flowers.”

“What’s that?”

“Let’s do it whenever we go out to play.”

It was when I was distracted for a while to find some grass flowers and inadequate grass.

I heard that the snacks were ready, I turned my head and saw a snake approaching Erhan’s ankle.

“Master Erhan!”

I dropped the grass flowers in surprise and ran to him.

If it is red and has black spots, it must be a mildly poisonous Erbonian snake.

If the weak Erhan was bitten, it would cause big trouble.

Without time to think, I hastily hugged him and rolled over.

“Ugh!”

I felt a sour pain in my ankle.

It wasn’t long before my vision started to get blurry.
