Doctor Resignation - Chapter 14
***
A faint sigh of embarrassment came out of the Duchess’ mouth when I didn’t respond.
“Please tell the maid to add a dandelion scent to your bathwater. It can make your skin look much better and softer.” I quickly changed the subject.
“……really?”
“It won’t affect your headaches and stomachaches. I am sure you haven’t had any time to take care of your skin.”
“……”
“But madam, if one looked in the mirror every day, that person would feel much better. They will feel motivated to start their day which will be good for their mental health.”
Perelman is an indifferent and cold person. It was rather obvious that he did not pay enough attention to the beauty of the young Duchess.
The Duchess nodded her head and said she would try to pay attention next time. She took a sip of her tea and smiled slightly.
“I heard you took good care of Erhan lately. You manage his daily routine and make it a habit.”
“Yes, that is true.” I nodded.
“Exercise and sleep are important for immunity, so you should make these good habits from an early age.”
Meanwhile, I slowly trained him to do some exercises for his physical strength so that he could develop muscles.
“Thank you very much. I’m so grateful to you for the last snake incident……”
“He doesn’t listen to me very well. Erhan is still young. My son is often sick but I am so busy with other things that I don’t have the opportunity to bond with him.”
“Oh……”
“Meanwhile, I…… I wanted him to be strong, so I kept saying that he shouldn’t be weak, but now I don’t know how to approach him.”
“I can help you, madam,” I said calmly, picking up a macaron. “I have nothing to do with outside the Duchy, so I will take good care of him.”
I added, “I’m the same age as Erhan, but I don’t know why he relies so much on me.”
The Duchess clicked her tongue as she looked at my dress while drinking tea.
“Was the dress bought by Perelman? It’s luxurious, but a little different from the current trend.”
I shrugged and replied, “No, this dress is for her daughter. He threw it at me.”
“What?”
The Duchess’ expression hardened and became strangely cold.
“That’s what very inconsiderate people always do.” Her voice was strangely sharp and cold.
Wait a minute…… Aren’t you two not close? Do you two get along?
“Clear your schedule tomorrow afternoon.”
“Sorry?”
“I’ll be sending all the boutique reps in the capital with the season catalog to Jenny, so pick your favorites. I’ll call them right away.”
***
“Did you have a nice time over your meal, miss?”
“Yes.”
It’s been a long time since I came to the Casseus mansion.
I answered Jenny’s question carefully. “Everything is delicious and nutritious. The kitchen also listens to all my requests.”
“What about your clothes?”
“Everything is good, I guess. To be honest, it’s not worth what I wear in the orphanage.”
“But the Duchess sent you so many catalogs……”
“I guess I’ll just follow your advice.”
I’ve flipped through mountains of catalogs and have chosen the tailor who can make the most comfortable clothes that will help me move freely.
It doesn’t seem important, but I don’t know why Jenny is so nervous.
“Do you need anything else?”
“No, everything is fine.”
The clothes and food here can’t be compared to the orphanage, but the problem is that I haven’t properly identified Erhan’s chronic illness.
So far, no progress although I carefully looked at medical journals and post-prescription responses.
Even though I was with Erhan quite often, I couldn’t find the cause.
He was already quite healthy but not fully healthy.
If all the hard work was invested in him, everyone would look at Erhan with great anticipation.
‘I have to get him to like me more until Frederick comes to visit next month.’
Frederick and Baron Ishid would always visit the Duchy once a month.
Since then, the Baron asked the Duchess to make Frederick as Erhan’s playmate. Seeing that her son was lonely and weak, he readily agreed to his requests.
‘Perhaps they are planning to plant spies within the Duchy.’
I can’t stop thinking about it. Also, I’ve been busy with the paternity test proposal I gave to Perelman, so I don’t have time to pay more attention.
I waited for him to let me use the laboratory as a gift.
So I can’t really hear Jenny’s pointless question.
Honestly, I was sure that Perelman would give me the lab keys so I could really experiment with new methods of paternity testing.
I think I’ve done enough in reporting, but I haven’t got any good news.
Even when he met me, he just looked at me with a complicated expression. Then, he finally gave me some medical journals before leaving me.
“Well, miss.”
“Yes.”
“Umm… since you’ve eaten and worn something decent, do you have anything else you like? Oh, you read medical books almost every day, so do you like books?”
‘Maybe they were planning for people to be a spy inside the Duchy.’
I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Also, the paternity test proposal was handed over to Ferelman, so I didn’t have time to pay more attention.
I was waiting for him to allow me to use his laboratory as a reward.
So I couldn’t really hear Jenny’s useless questions.
To be honest, Ferelman knew he would give her the key to the lab so that she can thoroughly experiment with the new method of the paternity test.
However, I thought I did enough in the report, but nothing has been notified yet.
Even when he met me, he only stared at me with his grey eyes and complicated expression. Then, he ended up sharing some medical journals before leaving me.
“Well, miss.”
“Yes.”
“Well….., since you already ate and wore something decent, do you have other things that you like? Oh, you read medical books almost every day, so do you like books?”
“It’s good to read medical books often. But there’s already enough here, so I don’t need any more. ”
“Do you need a friend your age? Seeing that you’re getting closer to Master Erhan……”
“No.”
I don’t need a thirteen-year-old child anymore.
I shook my head vigorously.
“To be honest, I don’t really interact with people my age. I have a fairly old mental age. If I want a friend, that person has to be a bright nineteen-year-old?”
I honestly don’t need such a friend. I only said that because I felt I had to answer Jenny.
After answering insincerely, I made it clear. “Nothing really uncomfortable and nothing I needed. So you don’t have to pay too much attention to me.”
Jenny was confused when I turned around and asked her to leave.
It was only then that I realized something was off and frowned deeply.
“Now tell me, what exactly are you doing?”
“Well……”
Jenny sighed and hesitated. But she finally spoke out. “Sir Perelman has personally asked me to find things that you like……”
“Why?”
“I think he wanted to apologize for being suspicious of you and thank you sincerely.”
“Then he can do it himself, right?”
“……well, he’s not that kind of person.”
“You’re right.”
I nodded, thinking of Perelman’s stiff face that doesn’t react even if you stab him with a needle.
But I need to convey what I want.
“What he likes is my research proposal.” I smiled at Jenny. “Well, I think a laboratory with lots of different herbs would be a good place for my research.”
‘Please, please, let me use the lab!’
I just hope it will convey well.

Arga was deep in thought after Jenny explained everything to him.
To be honest, he wanted her to learn more about the paternity test and get more definitive results.
However, Arga was so embarrassed that he couldn’t say the words himself. He was the one who coldly rejected her at first.
Lise was bitten by a snake instead of Erhan, and he was at fault because he was suspicious of her.
So he tried to find out what else Lise likes……
“She wants a laboratory.”
Arga fell into deep inner suffering.
It was clear that he wanted to do more research on the new paternity method, no, he was looking forward to it.
‘For that purpose, I really want to do something for her……’
He was disturbed by the actions of the Duchess who sent many catalogs and famous tailors for Lise.
He had no idea that the formal and cold Duchess would be so kind to a child.
“Anything else?”
“Well… I heard her say something else.”
Jenny added, a little unsure. “She doesn’t like friends her age and prefers to have friends who are around nineteen years older.”
“Oh is that so?”
“Yeah, she’s smart so she’ll need some knowledgeable acquaintances. Master Erhan has been sick since young so he doesn’t have a proper education.”
“I’ve also been sick once but I’m still a genius, huh.”
Arga said with a proud reaction and turned his face away from Jenny. Then, he suddenly remembered something.
Beside him stood Diel, the boy he had raised since childhood.
“You’re eighteen, aren’t you?”
Diel, who had an ominous feeling, had no choice but to nod.
“I believe you are smart……”
“Hahaha.” The pink-haired boy laughed awkwardly and answered slowly. “Thank you?”
“I’m not praising you so don’t thank me,” Arga said coldly.
“I’m going to Irvia soon. Is that all right?” he mumbled to himself.
Diel answered, “I can always complete my own work, my lord.”
Diel has a slim and muscular figure for an eighteen-year-old boy. Moreover, his face looks quite mature for a boy.
He is a commoner who has worked beside Perelman since young and is smart enough to be recognized by him.
He is also much taller than the other children his age and has a gentle impression.
On the other hand, the boy felt a bit awkward and had goosebumps because Perelman was constantly watching him.
Arga smiled and said, “If the Duchess sends her a tailor to give her some dresses……”
“Oh come on, sir!”
“I can send Diel and give her a lab.”
Diel’s dream of enjoying his vacation while Perelman went to Irvil was reduced to dust.
‘I can’t even guess what he’s thinking right now.’
“While I am leaving for Irvia, I want you to prepare the best laboratory for Lise, which is colorful, spacious, and equipped with all kinds of the experimental equipment.”
“Yes? But you can give her your own laboratory!”
“Lise’s research site should be much more comfortable than mine.”
“Sir…… this is the Casseus Duchy. You can’t just build a lab all of a sudden.”
“Is it important? Then get permission from the Duchess”.
“……yes sir.”
Perelman lifted his chin and added, “And be Lise’s close friend while you prepare for the lab.”
Diel nodded languidly.
Well, it’s not like he has any other choice.
