Doctor Resignation - Chapter 8

“Then, we will be on our way,” Perelman said.

The Duchess was busy managing the land anyway, so we made our visit end quickly. She couldn’t stop Perelman’s private plans but expressed disapproval by not responding to our farewell greetings.

Viscount Perelman, Erhan, and I were forced to leave together.

As soon as Perelman left the Duchess’ room, he greeted Erhan dryly and disappeared somewhere, Erhan and I went back to our respective rooms.

I said goodbye to him and tried to enter my room, but he looked up at me and smiled.

“It’s true that Viscount Perelman likes you.”

“I told you.”

When I saw Erhan from afar when I was nineteen, I never thought he was cool at all.

However, the more I looked at the thirteen-year-old Erhan, the more I found him to be strangely cute and handsome.

He resembles the Duchess. His long curved eyes, dark eyebrows, black hair, and delicate white face are quite impressive.

“I heard from Jenny earlier that there is a bell in your room that connects to the one in my room. If you feel uncomfortable with something, make sure to ring the bell. I’ll be right there.”

He sighed slightly.

“My mother is wary of others. She’s a little cold, she’s like that to me, too. She has become more sensitive after Father’s death, I understand if you’re offended because of her cold words.”

“It’s better to be suspicious than less prepared. I wasn’t offended at all.” I answered calmly because I thought it was nothing special. “In the end, she will eventually see my great skills and acknowledge me.”

Erhan stared at me and nodded.

“Yes. If you really don’t lie as you say, that’s what will happen. I’ll wait and see.”

When he was with Frederick, he was like a baby who hasn’t grown up yet, but he could speak more dignifiedly than I thought.

I slightly smiled as I watch Erhan’s back walking proudly to his room after raising his chin.

“Master Erhan, you have to eat everything tonight, too! It’s a promise! I assure you, no one will find it funny or look down on you!”

Erhan turned around and nodded slightly, and I laughed contentedly.

Since it’s already like this, I will raise him to the fullest.

When I entered the room, I was lost in thought.

‘I became the assistant of Viscount Perelman.’

I asked Jenny to bring me some Efron grasses, Syrika roots, and simple experimental instruments. I spent the whole afternoon alone and started researching.

The bell was red.

The duchess stared at me.

I shrugged.

“It’s all in the medical journals. And the more detailed the symptoms I know, the better I can give treatment.”

At my answer, she sighed.

“I see.”

I gave one of the two medicines I had prepared, the Duchess drank at once and then laid back.

Holding the medicine bottle, I sat by the bedside and held her hand still. The Duchess looked at me in wonder.

“Aren’t you going?”

“I will stay until you sleep.”

I held her hand tight and smiled slightly.

“If you inject mana directly like this when you have a headache, it will give a slight somnifacient effect.

“Viscount Perelman is a man, so he wouldn’t have given you this prescription.”

The Duchess stared at me but didn’t let go of my hand. A time of silence passed and her eyes began to slowly close.

“I am not.”

Whenever people from the Duchy came and demanded a verdict, or when an employee made a mistake, she would always give a passive expression.

What’s more, everyone usually avoided the Duchess because she always had a cold face. But……

There’s no reason for me to be scared.

I gently stroked her hand.

Since a doctor is not a wizard, it is not possible to use magic directly.

However, an outstanding doctor could diagnose or manipulate the flow of mana in the human body.

I didn’t know if I was lost or if they died young.

There was silence again, and the duchess murmured in a whisper. “Thank you. I’m getting sleepy.” It was definitely a voice that was falling asleep.

With that said, the Duchess slept completely.

Before I knew it, she held my hand tightly. Maybe she’ll wake up tomorrow and have a lighter head.
