I'm Stuck on a Remote Island With the Male Leads - Chapter 148
As my mind wandered to that point, I became very worried about Kayden.
I turned to Kayden before heading to the back of the cabin with Yuanna and said, “Be careful, don’t get hurt.”
Kayden tilted his head slightly and looked down at me. “Wish me luck, then I think I’ll be okay.”
“I’ll be praying.”
“Nothing like that.”
He lowered his head and lifted my hair, kissing the ends.
I flinched reflexively, surprised. Because I thought he was going to kiss me on the cheek.
He smiled, recognizing the meaning of my expression. His dimple formed so beautifully.
“Last thing I want to be remembered for is being a polite man.”
“Margaret, we have to go.”
After Kayden’s words, Yuanna called out to me. I nodded and waved to Kayden.
Arthdal added, “Please, be careful.”
Both Yuanna and I smiled and nodded at the sweet words.
“Margaret.”
“Margaret.”
Enoch and Kayden called out my name at the same time, then glared at each other.
“Be careful.”
“Be careful.”
They said the same thing at the same time and glared at each other again.
Yuanna looked at the two men with a fed-up expression on her face and pulled my hand.
“Let’s go.”
I waved at the two men as I was pulled by Yuanna’s hand.
“You two be careful too.”
The two men, who had been glaring at Yuanna with grim faces, looked at me and nodded, their faces beaming. The striking change was hilarious, and I chuckled before turning around.
“It’s too bad I didn’t get to know Margaret sooner,” Yuanna grumbled while hiding in the bushes.
“Yes?”
“You know, I’ve always wanted to get to know you too, but in the end, those creepy people beat me to it.”
Yuanna stuck out her lower lip. “I don’t have any friends.”
“I’m honored that you think of me as a friend.”
She smiled prettily at my answer. That sunny smile made her look like an innocent girl.
Smiles are contagious. So are good vibes.
I found myself smiling along with her, forgetting that our lives were on the line.

Jenas, who had been sitting in front of Anata, stood up.
“Looks like everyone’s here.”
Anata, still tied to the chair, narrowed her eyes at him. “How do you know that? You said the monster population is down and there are no eyes to borrow.”
“That’s not it, I feel the mana. Right in front of the cabin.”
Anata bit her lower lip hard. Unsettled, she had no idea what he was planning.
“This is the last experiment, and I can’t mess it up, so I have to intervene directly.”
Even Jenas couldn’t contain his excitement at the thought of this millennia-long experiment almost succeeding.
A long time ago, he stumbled upon a dimensional rift. As he studied and researched it, he realized that the waves that flowed through the rift affected his world as well.
Jenas was convinced that he could harness the waves and master them, so he decided to open the dimensional door, but it wasn’t as easy as he thought. It took too much mana.
As he continued his research, he made an astounding discovery. When humans feel their lives are threatened, their mana is amplified by more than ten times their natural ripple mana.
This discovery was so great that what would have taken tens of thousands of years to gather mana and open the dimensional door could be compressed into hundreds of years.
Of course, he still hadn’t expected it to take this long.
Jenas turned to Anata, his eyes shining with a bit of excitement. “Isn’t it time to break the mana seal? I can’t wait. I’ll have to take them all out at once. I’ll kill them all but one.”
“Don’t you realize we can’t break the seal until the experiment is over? We designed it with our own hands, and it’s our principle to stay out of the experiment.”
Jenas smiled at Anata’s comment.
There are a number of reasons why they did not intervene directly in the experiment.
First, the test subjects had to experience the threat of life in an extreme environment without the help of mana.
The second is,
“Do not interact with the test subjects directly. Because if you psychologically sympathize or assimilate with them, then in that instant it’s all over. Because you won’t be able to kill them.”
For the sake of Jenas and Anata, the designers themselves.
In addition, there were a lot of annoying rules that they made while experimenting.
Anata’s question wiped the smile from Jenas’ face. He turned to her with an eerily impassive expression.
“That principle has already been broken, Anata. From the moment you intervene yourself.”
Anata frowned for a moment. “Still, it’s impossible to fix the island’s system at our convenience now.”
“If we can’t fix it, we can break it. To open the mana seal.”
“How?”
“There’s something great that could disrupt some of the system. You will know when you see it.”
Anata’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wait, you’re not–!”
“Don’t ask, because I’m not going to tell you the details.”
Jenas cut her off with a snap and pulled on his wizard robe.
Anata gritted her teeth and glared at Jenas, but he didn’t seem to mind and continued to talk to himself eagerly.
“We’ve spent a thousand years hoping for the success of the experiment, and what if it’s futile?”
Anata’s voice rose in anger at his words. “Then stop right now.”
“If I could, I wouldn’t have stayed here for a thousand years. Was that easy for you, Anata?”
Of course it wasn’t easy. Anata bit her lower lip.
Even if she has lived for a thousand years, she still has regrets in her life. That’s how humans are.
Jenas looked at her and sighed.
“You are indecisive. You wait here. I’ll take care of it.”

I tried to use my mana to lure him out, but he came out of the cabin as if he had been waiting for me.
The boy who opened the cabin door and walked out with a leisurely pace was unmistakably Jenas.
He walked toward Enoch, Kayden, and Arthdal.
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
Jenas scanned the group quickly, his brow furrowing in dissatisfaction.
“Well, where are the others?”
He took a quick look around. He seemed to be looking for me, Yuanna, and Ruzef.
I checked once more to make sure that Ruzef, hidden in the bushes, was not spotted, and then took out my flare gun.
Good thing I had extra bullets from the supply box Yuanna and Arthdal had brought. They even remembered the shape of the firebomb I was carrying, and they brought all of them for me.
I double-checked the bomb in my crossbody bag, then picked Eunji up off the ground and put him on my shoulder.
“Oh dear, I can’t see all the important kids.”
Jenas’ voice rang in my ears.
The important kids?
“Is it okay for you to leave them alone?” Jenas asked, looking at Enoch. I wondered what he meant.
“Cut the bullshit and tell me how we can get off this island.”
Jenas laughed at Kayden’s response. “You didn’t ask that question expecting an answer, did you?”
Kayden spat out an expletive as the taunting returned.
After looking at the situation, I headed to the back of the cabin with Yuanna.
-whack!
-crack!
The sound of cracking wood came from the front of the cabin. There was a dull roar as the battle began.
Yuanna opened a window on the first floor of the cabin and looked back at me.
“Margaret?”
Distracted for a moment, I grabbed her hand and quickly walked into the cabin.
It was dark inside, even in the middle of the day. There was still an eerie feeling in the air. Eunji, who was resting his head on my shoulder, looked around curiously.
“The “Sanctuary Chamber” is on the third floor,” I said to Yuanna, who was scanning the first floor. She looked back at me and nodded.
She grabbed her axe, and I pulled out my flare gun, checked the magazine, and cautiously climbed the stairs.
“Saintess, you do have the key, don’t you?” I asked Yuanna just in case as I reached the second floor and looked around.
She pulled the key out of her pocket and smiled. “Don’t worry.”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
The “Sanctuary Chamber” must be sealed, so I had to find a way to open the door with a number of contingencies. The master key was one of them.
-flash, boom, bang!
Suddenly, thunder crashed down from the clear sky.
Startled, I turned to the window. What was going on outside?
-flash, boom, bang!
Several bolts of lightning struck the same place, just like when Ruzef sealed the body of the mother of monsters.
‘No way……’
I rushed to the window and looked out. I could see the front yard of the cabin in shambles, and there was no sign of Jenas.
“Oh my God, I think the Archbishop is awake!”
Yuanna, who was looking out the window on the other side, shouted. I ran up to her and looked out.
Through the bushes, I caught a glimpse of blue hair. Then a man slowly rose from his seat. Ruzef finally woke up.
“Saintess, go upstairs first. The “Sanctuary Chamber” is on the third floor. I’ll go to the Archbishop, he won’t know what’s going on, and if he gets caught by Jenas while-“
“Okay, don’t worry about me, please go and see the Archbishop.”
Understanding my words at once, Yuanna held my hands tightly and nodded.
I stared at Yuanna’s calm face for a moment. There was no time for this, but for some reason, I couldn’t let go of her hands easily.
I pulled her into a hug. “Thank you, for bringing me back. I don’t think I ever thanked you.”
We hugged for a while, and then I let her go.
When I looked at her again, her eyes were red.
“I’ll see you downstairs.”
I nodded at her words. With that, we said a quick goodbye and parted ways.
May you all be safe in your respective locations.
