I'm Stuck on a Remote Island With the Male Leads - Chapter 169
The golden eyes that gaze at me take on a rich glow. It’s like lovers whispering intimate secrets.
“No…… that’s true, but no. You can’t talk like that, Your Highness, it’ll be misunderstood if anyone hears you.”
I took a step back in embarrassment, and Enoch moved as close to me as I had moved away at a leisurely pace.
“There’s nothing to misunderstand. I’m only telling the truth.”
He reached out and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.
He stepped back effortlessly and gestured to my dress. “Done.”
Feeling agitated by his relaxed demeanor, I replied in a blunt voice, “Don’t make a joke of it.”
“I’m sorry you find it a joke. I’m always serious with you.”
Enoch tilted his head slightly and stared at me. His golden eyes are still locked on mine, and I can’t tell what he’s thinking.
“Then, what do you want to do the most when you get off the island?”
“……well.”
“Well? Think about it. I’ve answered honestly, are you going to be so insincere?”
“But, Margaret. If I say it honestly, you’ll get in trouble.”
Well, Enoch didn’t tell me what he wanted to do when he finally got off the island, so I asked him.
“But you didn’t tell me what you wanted to do when you got off the island.”
Enoch’s eyebrows rose at my question. He seemed to ponder the question, and then he looked at me with a look that said he finally understood what I was talking about.
So I asked again, “Do you still think I’m going to get in trouble if you answer?”
“I see you’re still curious about that.”
Enoch stroked his chin, then stood still, staring at my face, lost in thought. I waited for him to say something, anything.
“Something I want to do when I get off the island……. Can I do it now?”
“Now?”
I looked at him in confusion, then nodded. I was a little nervous, not knowing what to do, but unexpectedly, he held out his hand to me.
“Can I hold your hand?”
I looked at his outstretched hand unsurely, then gingerly placed my hand over his.
“This is what I wanted to do.”
He slowly leaned down and kissed the back of my hand. I stared at him in disbelief, and then he straightened, looked up at me, and smiled.
“And this too.”
He flipped my hand over and pressed his lips to my palm this time. The feel of his soft lips against the delicate flesh of my palm is erotic. My fingers twitched.
Enoch slowly removed his lips from my palm and straightened up. What- is it over?
The thing he wanted to do when he got off the island wasn’t to bathe in warm water or eat delicious food, it was to kiss my hand.
“There’s more.”
He gently took my chin in his hand and looked me in the eye. I stared at him, frozen, like a prey caught in a spider’s web.
Then his head slowly lowered over my face.
I closed my eyes as his face got closer.
However, after a long time of closing my eyes, nothing happened. Puzzled, I slowly opened my eyes and saw Enoch smiling at me.
He looked at me lovingly, his eyes like they were filled with sweet candy.
“What are you……!”
“Are you looking forward to it?”
He asked in a smirking voice, my face burning. I quickly pulled away from him. My heart was racing.
‘What the hell, what’s going on?’
I quietly put my hand over my chest. My heart was beating uncontrollably. I couldn’t calm it down. We’ve had a lot more physical contact than this on the island before, so why suddenly……
For a moment, I’m confused by what’s happening in my body.
“There’s something else I want to do.”
Enoch’s gaze lingered on my lips, and I felt the hairs on my body stand on end at the intensity of his stare. Tensing, I swiped my tongue across my parched lips and reached out to stop him from approaching.
“Oh, okay, I get it. I understand without you having to show it in action.”
“Understand? It’s too early to understand, Margaret.”
Enoch replied with a chuckle, then stroked my hair affectionately. “Be patient with your curiosity. I’ll do it slowly.”
My heart sank the moment I heard those words. Enoch’s hand touched my shoulder as I tensed up and hunched my shoulders.
“Shoulders back. Chin up. There you go.”
Enoch casually corrected my posture like an aristocrat. I averted my gaze, a little embarrassed.
Even though I had realized my self as Margaret, my body was still used to my habits as Lee Jinju. I don’t know how to adapt to the aristocratic world.
But Enoch didn’t seem the least bit bothered and held out his hand to me.
“Let’s go now. Home.”
I stared at his hand outstretched to me, then quietly took it.
Home. Let’s back home.
The words brought tears to my eyes.
With an overwhelming heart, I held Enoch’s hand and stepped out of the barracks. I saw the knights ready to leave with the procession of carriages, but when I reached the carriage, Kayden was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is Kayden?”
He came running back from wherever he’d been and stopped in front of me, catching his breath.
“Did you wait for me?”
“Where have you been?”
“Having a little argument with the old man.”
‘Old man’ is what Kayden called Jenas. He’d lived a thousand years, so he was an old man, though he didn’t look it.
The way Kayden smiled so casually made me feel terribly sorry for him, and knowing what the name Rohade meant to him, I worried for his mental health as he had Jenas sealed inside his body.
“Don’t look at me like that. I’m fine.”
Kayden said sweetly, stroking my hair. His large hand is warm. The red eyes I thought were eerie somehow seemed to sparkle like rubies now.
Yes. Kayden is stronger than I had thought.
“Get on the carriage. We’re going home.”
At Kayden’s urging, I climb into the carriage first. After shoving Enoch, who tried to get in after me, Kayden sat down next to me.
“The seat next to Margaret is mine. Whoops, almost missed it.”
After saying that, Kayden looked at Enoch with a smug look on his face and asked, “You’re not getting on?”
Enoch looked at Kayden with a disapproving look and then sat down across from me quietly, as if he didn’t think there was any good to be gained from fighting in a cramped carriage.
‘I don’t think I’ve said goodbye to the others yet, but I’ll see them again soon enough,’ I thought as I looked out the carriage window.
But just as it was about to set off, the carriage suddenly stopped. I stuck my head out of the window to see what was going on and saw a group of people in the distance.
It was Arthdal and the knights of the Kingdom of Hestia.
Arthdal’s coming brought Enoch, Kayden, and me out of the carriage again.
“I didn’t want to part with you like this, so I came running.”
Arthdal smiled and shook hands with Enoch and Kayden.
“Young lady, I will soon be visiting Langridge, so please wait for me.”
He looked at me and winked. Why does he pick on me and say things like that?
“Margaret!”
I heard a voice call out to me, this time from the opposite direction. I turned to see another group of people walking this way.
In the center of the men in priestly robes were Ruzef and Yuanna.
Yuanna ran to me in one stride and pulled me into a hug. Eunji on my shoulder flinched, then slithered down into the pocket of my dress and hid.
She sighed, hugging me so deeply I could barely breathe. She cupped my cheeks and examined the complexion of my face.
“As soon as everything’s sorted out, I’ll be heading straight to Langridge, just wait a bit.”
Why is everyone so eager to come to the Langridge Empire? Even Ruzef rushed to me, clasping my hands in his and sobbing.
“Young lady, I’m so sad to see you go. I couldn’t live without you on the island, and now how can I live without you?”
“What are you talking about, this isn’t Alea Island.”
But Ruzef seemed to barely hear me as he continued to sob. Yuanna looked at me with a thoughtful expression on her face, as if struggling for words.
“My life is yours, Margaret, and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.” Her eyes turned red as she said that.
Ruzed nodded vigorously and added, “My life is yours, too. If it weren’t for you, I would have screamed myself to death on that island.”
No, that’s not the matter now. The stares that fell upon us from the troops of the Langridge Empire, the Kingdom of Hestia, and even the people of the Holy See were overwhelming.
“Guys, I’m already occupied with my own life, it’s too heavy to shoulder yours too, so don’t give it to me.”
Ruzef and Yuanna simultaneously looked deeply impressed by my words. For a long time, I had to listen to Yuanna, Ruzef, and Arthdal–who had joined them–say their long, drawn-out goodbyes.
We decided to gather all the evidence and get back together in two or three months at the earliest.
Arthdal mentioned my upcoming birthday. “Let’s get back together on your birthday. Your birthday is coming up, isn’t it?”
“But I don’t want to,” I replied firmly. How did he know my birthday?
“Aren’t you going to have a party on your birthday? Aren’t you going to invite us? I would feel sad if you don’t.”
“I haven’t been to a party in a long time, it should be fun.”
Yuanna and Ruzef chimed in excitedly.
No one was listening to me. I see Enoch and Kayden nodding in agreement, so I guess they’ve already made up their minds. Oh well.
However, we all have work to do now. Kayden must find the Blood Oath that the Rohade family kept, and Enoch must find and search for evidence on Alea Island. Arthdal also has to search for people of Peony Blossoms in the Kingdom of Hestia while Ruzef and Yuanna search in the Holy See.
With that, we parted ways, hoping to meet again.
