I'm Stuck on a Remote Island With the Male Leads - Chapter 175
***
I still haven’t replied to Enoch and Kayden’s letters. Please tell me who to choose. I do not know either!
Margaret had never attended a party with someone as a formal partner, so it was impossible to borrow her memories and relive the experience.
The welcome home party is tomorrow, and I’ve only been sleeping for a few days. The letters went unanswered, and I was told that Enoch and Kayden had sent them back several times since.
“Anyway, I’ll leave you two to yourselves, and I’ll see you at the welcome home party.”
“I’ll be visiting your mansion before then.”
“I’ll be there before then, too.”
In Enoch’s case, he requested a visit to the mansion yesterday, but since I slept the entire time, Innis turned him down on my behalf.
Enoch is a man of formalities, so I’m sure he would have waited patiently for an answer if he’d been denied a formal visit, trying not to overwhelm me.
‘He’ll be worried.’
I have to go back to my room and hurriedly write a reply.
Along with the partner proposal, Enoch’s letter was enclosed.
According to the letter, the Emperor has instructed the returned seven to bring the divine beast. It says that Enoch wants me to bring Eunji with me as well, as the welcome home party is a great opportunity to find the Peony Blossoms.
Enoch wants me to bring Eunji before the Emperor.
Even the people here have never seen her. Of course they’ve only heard rumors.
Could Eunji really be a divine beast?
She was certainly different from other monsters. Besides, even Kayden and Jenas had said that she was an unusual monster, but they didn’t know exactly what she was.
“Margaret!”
Rosemary followed me at a trotting pace. In her hand, she held a pouch with a pretty floral embroidery.
She glanced at me, blushing. “I, I…… ahem. I heard a rumor that you brought the divine beast with you.”
“And?”
“Take it! It’s a good herb for recovery from fatigue. Give it to the divine beast. She’s traveled a long way, so she shouldn’t be tired.”
“Huh? Huh. Thanks.”
I took the herbs from her with a dazed look on my face. Rosemary stared at me, her eyes wide.
“Why?”
“Is the divine beast in your room? Can’t I watch her eat? Innis said she saw her, I want to see her too.”
Rosemary’s eyes were wide with anticipation. Innis had always worried that Rosemary looked like an old woman, but now she looked like a child.
Since we arrived at the mansion a few days ago, Eunji has been asleep, so Rosemary and my mom haven’t seen her. No wonder she was curious.
I smiled and nodded. “Okay. Let’s go,” I said and held out my hand toward her.
She stared at my hand in surprise.
“Why?”
“Oh, no…… I guess you’ve been changed. That’s not like you.”
Rosemary hesitantly took my hand. I saw that her earlobes had turned bright red. She looks shy. Well, it’s awkward. We weren’t exactly close sisters.
So Rosemary and I made our way to my room, moving with the stiffness of people who had never held hands with another person before.
As soon as we entered my room, Rosemary let go of my hand as if she’d been waiting for it. I wiped my sweaty palm roughly on my dress. It was awkward as hell.
In my room, Eunji was sleeping on the bed. When Rosemary spotted her, she jumped back in surprise.
“The divine beast is a snake?” She stared at Eunji from a distance, white as a sheet.
It was then that Eunji heard the noise and looked up, her eyes widening happily. Eunji jumped up as our eyes locked, then slithered to the end of the bed and leaned over to stare at me, neck outstretched.
Her tongue flicked out cheerfully, then she spotted Rosemary and tilted her head adorably.
“Margaret…… is that a snake?” Rosemary asked me, a puzzled look on her face.
I walked over to the bed, picked up Eunji and put her on my shoulder, and looked back at her. “Well, it’s a snake.”
Rosemary walked over to me, mesmerized, and looked at Eunji on my shoulder.
“How come a snake can be so cute……?”
I could feel Eunji’s pleasure at Rosemary’s words as she snorted on my shoulder.
“I didn’t know the divine beast was a snake, but she’s so cute.”
Rosemary continued to mumble in disbelief, then looked back at me with a twinkle in her eye.
“Can I feed her the herbs I gave you?”
I nodded at Rosemary’s question and handed her the pouch I was holding. Then I set Eunji down on the soft carpet. Eunji spun in place for a moment, looking up at me, her tongue flicking out.
I watched as Rosemary pulled a square box out of the pouch and asked, “But are you sure that’s edible? What happens if a monster eats it?”
“It’s an herb that’s safe for monsters to eat. People usually give it to their pets. It’s good for recovery from fatigue, and for animals with mana, it can help relieve twisted mana.”
Rosemary opened the box, pulled out the herbs, and held them out to Eunji. Eunji, who had been slithering in front of the box, sniffed the herbs and backed away in horror. Then she looked up at me.
I nodded, indicating that it was okay. Then Eunji slithered over to Rosemary’s palm, curious again.
“I want to touch her. Can I?”
“If you’re going to give her herbs, do it first.”
I had been worried about Eunji eating the magic stone that the Rohade family had made. But an herb that relieves twisted mana and helps recover from fatigue might help her.
Eunji finally gulped down the herb on Rosemary’s palm.
Then she started bouncing up and down with an annoyed face.
Judging by her frown, the herb must have been unpalatable. I quickly grabbed some water and held it in front of him.
Eunji thumped her tail on the floor in annoyance, a look of displeasure on her face. She glared at me and Rosemary as if to say, “How could you feed me something so tasteless?” and then drank the water.
Rosemary and I knelt quietly in front of Eunji as he drank and watched her.
“Is she okay?”
“She’s fine. Do you know how much I went to the trouble of getting a gift for her when I heard you were bringing home the divine beast? I paid a fortune for it from an imperial-sanctioned herbalist.”
Rosemary quickly expressed how excited she was to hear that I was bringing Eunji home, and her face turned bright red.
Eunji was thrilled, twirling in place for a while, as if the herbs had really energized her. Then she started to doze off.
Rosemary patted Eunji on the head as if she were dying of cuteness. Eunji flicked her tongue, closed her eyes, and finally fell asleep coiled up.
“She’s so cute……”
Rosemary muttered softly, then jumped up in embarrassment when she made eye contact with me.
“I, uh, I’ve seen the divine beast, so I’m going to go.”
She opened the door and walked out, creaking like a broken robot. I thought she was completely out, but Rosemary stuck her head in without closing the door.
“Margaret.”
“Why?”
“Are you taking her to the party tomorrow?”
“Of course I’m taking her. The Emperor wants to see her. She’s given me an imperial decree to bring her.”
Rosemary’s face brightened at my words, and she nodded her head up and down vigorously.
“Bye!”
Smiling at the spot where Rosemary had disappeared, I carefully put the sleeping Eunji on the bedside cushion. It was a cushion reserved for her. Eunji purred and curled up into a ball.
After watching her, I wrote a letter to Enoch and Kayden, handed them to Vanessa, and ate a quick meal in my room. Then I read a book and went to bed early.
It’s peaceful.
I hope it lasts, but I’m actually a little nervous about tomorrow’s party, and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep.
I wonder if I’ll be okay, since I haven’t quite adjusted to aristocratic etiquette yet. Margaret couldn’t dance well, and I can’t dance well. I’ll have to practice my dancing again, but tomorrow I’ll just have to stay out of sight and in the corner.
I should never dance.
Never.
With those thoughts, I drifted off to sleep.
It was the middle of the night when I woke up.
A gentle spring breeze was tickling through the slightly open window. It was a pleasant spring breeze, especially after the sweltering summer on Alea Island.
The dim moonlight filled the room in silence. I blinked my sleepy eyes and looked up at the canopy ceiling. After a moment, my vision came into sharp focus.
How long have I been asleep? It seems like it’s still night.
“You awake?”
I heard a voice beside me. I jumped out of my seat, startled.
Then,
“Shhh.”
Someone held an index finger over my lips. My eyes widened and I stared at the man in front of me.
His pure white silver hair shone beautifully in the moonlight, and the ruddy red eyes beneath it were deep enough to swallow me whole.
“Kayden?”
“Still can’t tell the difference?”
Only then did I realize he was Jenas.
Kayden did tell me that he was going to visit the Floné mansion unofficially. I didn’t expect it to be Jenas, not Kayden.
Floné Mansion is famously heavily guarded, so how the hell did he get in?
“I don’t know what you’re doing. Aside from being extremely rude, I could have you arrested for trespassing.”
“Are you going to do that? It’s Kayden who’s going to get arrested, not me.”
Damn you.
Seeing the look on my face, Jenas grinned in delight. He pulled a chair over to the side of my bed and sat down.
