I'm Stuck on a Remote Island With the Male Leads - Chapter 183
Kayden snapped his fingers and the gag came off.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?! You- you think you’re going to get away with it? The Holy See will find me, and it won’t take long for them to find out you did this!”
“I don’t care,” Kayden retorted sharply. “They’ve probably figured out we’re looking for the magicstones anyway, so I’m sure they’re expecting this.”
The Archbishop disappeared from the banquet hall, of course the Holy See would look for him. They’ll suspect us.
But as long as we kept the Archbishop tied up here until it was all over, we had no problem. The Archbishop is sealed in the Magic Tower, just as Jenas sealed Anata in the cabin, so he will not be easy to find.
“How does it feel to be sealed alive?”
“What the fxck are you talking about! I don’t know why you’re doing this. If it’s because of what happened at the party……!”
“Ha. I’ll just gag you again for being so loud.”
Enoch cut the Archbishop off with a glare. It was uncharacteristically rude. Well, he’s not one to be polite to.
I looked at the Archbishop and asked, “You know Alea Island, don’t you? I know all about your connection to it.”
He stopped struggling.
“Tell me who has the rest of the magic stones, and how many accomplices are there besides you.”
“You think I’m going to answer?”
“What’s your plan, the experiment failed. What are you plotting to do that you refuse to give up?”
The Archbishop clamped his mouth shut.
“Then what are you planning to do at my birthday party?”
“How- how do……!”
At the last question, the Archbishop stammered, then shut up.
It was something I had sensed since the party, but he was so lame and stupid it was embarrassing.
Unlike Jenas, who has lived for a thousand years, the Peony Blossom faction has been through generational changes, but I’m so angry and frustrated that my life was in the hands of people so sloppy.
“Do you want me to pull your nails?” Kayden asked.
The Archbishop’s face went white.
I turned to Kayden and said firmly, “No physical torture. He’ll be condemned when we find the Blood Oath, and if he’s injured, we’ll be in trouble.”
Enoch, who had been standing with his arms crossed and listening to our conversation, chimed in, “I’m against physical torture, too. But we can do other things.”
The Archbishop breathed a sigh of relief, then stiffened and trembled.
“Hey. You’re scared? Don’t you realize what you’ve done to us?”
Kayden stepped onto the magic circle and kicked the Archbishop’s chair roughly. Apparently, all but the sealed could come and go from the magic circle.
The Archbishop fell backwards, still tied to his chair. Barely able to raise his head from the floor, he turned to Kayden, his face filled with fear, begging for his life.
The sight of him left me, Enoch, and Kayden speechless for a moment.
“I- I’ll tell you everything.”
The Archbishop opened his mouth easily, even before the torture began.
Unfortunately, he didn’t know how many people in the Peony Blossom faction there were, or who had the remaining magic stones. But he did know exactly what they wanted to do at my birthday party.
“Everyone with a magic stone will attend Lady Floné’s birthday party, and they’ll use it to summon monsters.”
“And what do they get out of it?”
“To create chaos and, in the process, eliminate all the survivors from the island and destroy evidence.”
“You do realize that among those survivors you’re talking about eliminating are the Crown Prince of Langridge Empire and the Crown Prince of Hestia Kingdom?” I asked.
The Archbishop nodded vigorously, as if it didn’t matter. “If we didn’t realize it, we wouldn’t have kidnapped them to the island in the first place. It would be disguised as an accident, caused by monsters.”
“And?”
“Sorry?”
“And what’s the fxcking plan after that?” Kayden asked impatiently, kicking the Archbishop’s chair that had tipped to the side.
“We- we plan to recover whatever remnants of mana we can from Alea Island and resume the experiment. We can’t afford to ruin the millennium’s plan, after all, it was a success. Of course, they said they’d never pick test subjects like you.”
We were at a loss for words for a moment after hearing that.
What? Resuming the experiment? These people must be crazy.
How are they going to complete the experiment without Jenas, who designed it?
“W- would you please release me now?” the Archbishop asked us politely.
Kayden looked at him as if he saw something insignificant and contemptible, and then stepped out of the magic circle, not bothering to lift him from the floor.
“Shall we go out and talk?”
Kayden asked us, which caused the Archbishop to once again struggle on the floor and cry out for his release. Of course, when Kayden snapped his fingers, the gag that had been loosened was stuffed back into his mouth.
They’re all just a bunch of losers anyway. The real leaders of the Peony Blossom faction are the Pope, Marquis Rohade, and the Empress.
But for some reason, I keep getting this nagging feeling. I felt like I was missing something. I wondered if it was really this easy to solve the problem, and why the people who had been running this insane experiment for a thousand years and keeping it secure were so sloppy.
***
We walked into the Magic Tower Lord’s office.
Kayden quickly took the seat next to me, and Enoch slid into the front seat without a word. There was silence for a long moment.
“This is your office, I can’t believe it,” I said, looking around Kayden’s office. As far as I could see, it was filled with books and lab equipment.
I’ve looked around before, but it’s still new to me. I realize once again that Kayden, whom I had assumed to be a crazy lunatic, is a lord of the Magic Tower.
Sitting on the couch at an angle, Kayden looked up at me. “It’s nice to have you in my space,” he said.
“You seem to have forgotten that I’m here too,” Enoch said with a hint of annoyance at Kayden’s treatment of him as if he didn’t exist.
There was another awkward silence.
“Oh, I read this earlier.”
I held up the book, “The Great Wizard, Jenas Igran Rohade,” which I had placed on the table.
“Oh……”
Kayden sat up, arms crossed, and frowned at the book I pointed to. He crumpled his face in silence for a long moment, then ruffled his hair. He seemed to be having a conversation with Jenas.
“That bastard built the Magic Tower, so there’s a lot of books about him here.”
“Huh? Oh, yeah, so it’s steeped in history.”
Kayden sat there with a narrowed brow, then spoke slowly, “Before he went into hiding, he did a lot of things that would have made a mark in magic history, though it’s kind of ridiculous that the reason he went into hiding was because of that damn experiment.”
With that, Kayden looked at me and added, “Let me know if you have any more questions, and I’ll get them from the mansion. I can get those things easily.”
Kayden suddenly grinned. “Oh, I guess he wrote a lot in his diary. He insists on me never looking through it. I’ll make sure to find the diary and send it to the Floné Mansion.”
I don’t really like looking at other people’s diaries, but Kayden seemed to be really into picking on Jenas right now.
And once again, silence fell between us. I stared down at Jenas’s book. My mind was blank.
“I’m actually really down right now,” I broke the long silence.
Everyone seemed to ignore it, but I’m sure they were thinking the same thing. What an insignificant man, the Archbishop, who’d come in front of the Emperor to slander me.
“Except for Jenas, they’re all so stupid that I don’t think I’ll have to worry about taking them down anytime soon, but the problem is the Blood Oath document that went missing with old man Rohade,” said Kayden.
Old man Rohade must mean the Marquis of Rohade. At Kayden’s words, I fished in my pocket for the note my mother had given me.
“This is a note from His Excellency the Duke of Bilterheim, and it seems that Marquis Rohade has left for Alea Island.”
“Ha. That goddamn old man.”
Enoch didn’t say anything until Kayden muttered a curse. He stared at the note I held out, then sighed.
“Diego and his brother will find Alea Island first, so I guess we shouldn’t worry too much,” Enoch replied with an expression of not really worrying.
“Shouldn’t we have Imperial troops on standby to catch them in the act of using magic stones at the party? What do you think, Enoch?”
“I can’t fully believe everything the Archbishop said, but I think it’s better to have the Imperial Army on standby.”
Whether the Archbishop was telling the truth or not, I knew for sure that they were going to do something at my birthday party.
If only I could catch them all then and there and beat the crap out of them. I sighed, pressing my temples in frustration.
“First of all, I think we need to make sure that the Peony Blossoms can’t use their magic stones at the party, so do you mind if I come visit you before the birthday party?” Kayden asked, his eyes shining.
Enoch spoke up quickly. “Then I’ll come with you.”
Kayden glared at Enoch, and I was quick to jump in.
“You both come. I’ll tell my father and mother,” I replied.
Now that we had a plan for the day ahead, I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me. I could actually fall asleep on this couch; they’re such silly villains that all I want to do is get revenge and rest.
“I wish Cheekydal and the Saintess were here, so we could discuss this together.”
“Oh, come on, Margaret. That’s a little harsh. Are you saying we’re not good enough?”
“Huh? Ah…… that’s not what I meant.”
“Have you forgotten that we’ve done this and that together?”
Kayden, sitting next to me, leaned in a little closer to me.
“We’ve done this and that together? If anyone overhears, they’re gonna get the wrong idea……”
At that moment, my eyes met with the servant who opened the door to the office. He was bringing in the tea Kayden had ordered earlier. The servant’s face turned red. He must have heard our conversation earlier.
I buried my face in my hands. I can’t stand Kayden, he’s ruining my life……!
I glared at Kayden as soon as the servant had finished setting up the tea and left.
“There’s no misunderstanding, because it’s true.”
To my surprise, Enoch backed up Kayden. I stared at Enoch, my face filled with a sense of betrayal.
“Why, Margaret? You don’t think it wasn’t enough?” Kayden asked, still staring at me.
“What?” I asked in bewilderment.
Kayden leaned closer to me. He took my chin in his hand, his red eyes sparkling in front of mine. “Don’t act like you don’t know. I’m talking about that kiss we shared back then.”
His hot gaze rested on my lips. A large palm came between Kayden and me.
“I think we’re done here, so we should get going,” Enoch said, and swept me up in his arms, which made Kayden irritated.
I was relieved to see that everyone seemed to be in better spirits than before. I breathed a sigh of relief and slid back down from Enoch’s arms.
“Oh, before we go, I have a gift for you.”
Kayden pulled something out of his desk drawer. It was a pouch with something thick inside.
