I'm Stuck on a Remote Island With the Male Leads - Chapter 207
Kayden and Jenas rolled on the ground, continuously exchanging control of the body. Then a flurry of electrified spears rushed toward the body.
The more they fought, the more the earth shook with vibrations.
The shattered Alea Island was broken into pieces, floating in the sea like a buoy, and if it shook this hard, it would soon be submerged.
That could easily derail our plans. I couldn’t predict Jenas’s movements.
My hands were sweating with nervousness.
I had to pull the trigger, aiming for the moment when Kayden would take his body and break the soul-binding contract. Would I be able to do it at that exact moment?
“Margaret, can you do it?”
Enoch, who had heard my plan beforehand, asked me in a worried voice from beside me, but I was too focused to answer his question.
My hands were shaking with nervousness.
‘If this keeps up, I won’t be able to aim.’
If I miss, Jenas might take Kayden’s body again!
I bit my lower lip, trying to steady my hand, when a large hand closed over my right one, a firm pectoral against my back.
“Let me help you.”
Enoch wrapped one hand around my waist and the other around the hand that held the flare gun, holding me steady.
“All you need to do is focus.”
I nodded wordlessly and aimed the flare gun in the direction of the puffs of smoke.
I caught a glimpse of Kayden’s silhouette through the smoke, but it wasn’t clear. I squinted, watching his nimble movements.
Although the attack was aimed at Jenas’s soul, it would eventually have to penetrate Kayden’s body as well, so it couldn’t be without pain for him.
Therefore, I had to finish the job in one shot by firing a mana bullet as cleanly as possible.
While I was concentrating with all my might, Eunji, who was being held by Yuanna, suddenly spoke to me.
“Unnie! Eunji wants to help you!”
Eunji’s cheerful voice instantly relaxed me. And then Enoch’s hand, which was resting on the back of mine, gave me strength instead.
I glanced at Eunji, trying to think of something to say.
“Eunji, you wait for Mr. Blue Hair. He’s going to bring you an ugly stone. If you eat it, you’ll feel stronger.”
“Yes!”
Eunji clapped his hands together and nodded.
“What did I tell you to do if a bad guy show up after you eat that?”
“Eat the bad guy!”
“I didn’t tell you to eat him, I told you to get rid of him,” I said, surprised by Eunji’s innocent response.
“That’s what eating is!” Eunji exclaimed with great confidence.
“That’s kind of cruel. If you eat something like that, you can get a stomachache.”
“Maybe you can just stomp on him or bite him. Just cut off his breathing.”
“……Excuse me, Lady Floné, don’t you think that’s more cruel?”
Arthdal, who had been listening to our conversation in silence, chimed in.
But we couldn’t continue the conversation any further.
-rumbling!
Just like the night of my birthday party, something strange was happening in the sky.
I could see a long horizontal line being drawn across the sky with dozens of bolts of lightning. It was an unusual energy.
I knew instinctively that it was the dimensional rift I had only heard about. As soon as the rift became visible, my head started to hurt like it was going to explode.
It was as if my soul was reacting to the rift. As if my existence was a foreign object in this world.
“What do we do about this?”
Yuanna looked back at me, puzzled, as the fight dragged on. It was Arthdal who answered for me.
“I suggest you prepare to use the purification power to close the dimensional rift. As soon as we defeat Jenas, we’ll close the rift.”
Since I decided to use the mana bullet to separate Jenas from Kayden’s body, I couldn’t cross the dimension yet, so closing the rift would only be possible after this was done.
“I see,” Yuanna replied with a sigh.
Enoch’s voice reached my ears once more as my gaze drifted to them.
“Margaret, focus.”
I nodded and turned my attention back to the direction of the smoke.
The fight showed no sign of ending, and I kept hearing Kayden and Jenas’s voices alternating. I was beginning to notice a visible deterioration in their movement as they fought, draining mana from each other’s bodies. Their movements were slower than before.
“Hah. No. Ugh…….”
And then a voice that sounded like it belonged to Kayden,
Aahhh.
The body swept across the ground in a long, straight line. Dust kicked up.
Even the thunder ceased. There was silence, along with a palpable tension.
We all tensed, waiting for Kayden– no, the man, to make a move.
-rustling.
After a long moment, the man stood up.
His face was a mess. His white cheeks, forehead, and bridge of his nose were smeared with dirt, smoke scorch marks, and a mess of blood.
He soon dragged himself to his feet, grunting with effort. His usual wizard robe was nowhere to be seen, and he muttered to himself.
“Hah. Hah……. It’s been a thousand years since I’ve had the unpleasant sensation of my mana being out of control.”
I opened my mouth, speechless from the intense shock. The fight stopped. A deep sense of despair washed over me like a wave.
I don’t want to believe it. It can’t be true. It’s Jenas.
“A thousand years of mana, and I can’t even use it to subdue a little kid. Ha…….”
Jenas continued to mutter in annoyance.
“Damn.”
Yuanna must have noticed that, because she muttered a curse next to me, and Jenas looked up.
“What the hell?”
Jenas glanced around and frowned when he spotted Eunji in Yuanna’s arms. He had finally realized that Eunji had evolved.
-quang!
The ‘door’ in the distance suddenly slammed open. The timing was brilliant.
A blue-haired emerged through the open door, scratching his head.
“Wow, I never thought I’d find myself back here on my own feet…….”
Behind him, a group of wizards, apparently reinforcements, rushed out en masse. They all locked eyes with us and froze in place in surprise.
Jenas, whose body must have been weakened by the fight, leaned back and looked at them, breathing heavily.
“Ha. What the hell is that again?”
Meanwhile, Arthdal called out to me.
“Lady Floné, shoot him, just kill him!”
Jenas’s gaze snapped to me.
I was still pointing the muzzle of the flare gun at him, Enoch firmly supporting me.
“No, Kayden will die too!”
When Kayden took over his body, I aimed to hit only Jenas’s soul.
But if Jenas took over Kayden’s body, I’m not sure what would happen to him inside if I fired mana at him.
I am not skilled in the use of mana, so all I learned was to copy the way the mother of monsters attacked.
If I used a method other than the one I had prepared, Kayden might get hurt!
“It can’t be helped!” Arthdal shouted in frustration.
Rationally, I know he’s right. If Jenas had Kayden completely subdued, he must be killed, so that Yuanna could use the purification power to close the dimensional rift.
“Ah, well, this is an interesting situation.”
Jenas slowly turned to me, and Enoch, who was holding my hand, slowly released it.
“Don’t get away from me, it’s dangerous.”
Enoch warned me, then drew his sword. I watched as a meteor-like light leaked out of Jenas’ hand and orbited around his palm as he looked at Enoch.
Soon the sphere of light struck Enoch directly. Enoch raised his sword to block the attack.
The wizards who came with Ruzef immediately formed a circle, casting defensive and offensive spells, but Jenas reached out and formed a circle around Enoch even as he attacked.
The wizards, Ruzef, Yuanna, and Arthdal were now struggling to break through the barrier.
Meanwhile, Jenas stomped his foot once, and the ground I stood on began to shake and then crack.
This time, the ground began to separate Enoch from me and Jenas.
“Damn it! Margaret!”
Enoch, who was moving away, panicked and tried to get to me, but it seemed impossible as Jenas, who was good at long-range attacks, continued to attack him.
Jenas, meanwhile, leaped up from his place and was in front of me in an instant.
I stood there, tense, with my flare gun pointed at him.
“Are you going to shoot me?”
Not yet. I believe Kayden will come back.
Jenas walked slowly toward me. Even as he moved toward me, the mana radiating from his hands was reaching out to Enoch, who was approaching from behind.
Jenas’s eyes were red and bloodshot. One of his eyes was even red from a burst blood vessel.
He must have overdone it, and the more mana he channeled from the stone, the worse the anomalies in the sky became. I frowned at the throbbing headache.
Jenas walked up to me and touched me on the cheek. His eyes sparkled dangerously. I raised the muzzle of my flare gun and pointed it at his chin.
“Get the hell out of Kayden’s body, now, please.”
“It hurts me when you say that. Enough with my descendant. You’re going to stay by my side until you die.”
Despite the horrible words, Jenas let out a dry laugh.
Behind him, I could see Enoch getting closer, step by step, under Jenas’s attack.
“Crazy asshole.”
I gritted my teeth and glared at him. My finger on the trigger grew tighter.
I have to kill him. He must be killed. But I can’t give up hope that Kayden will wake up.
My fingers trembled, and Jenas’s grip on my chin continued to tighten.
Suddenly, Jenas flew away as if he’d been hit by something. It was as if someone had kicked him.
-thwack!
Dust rose up around Jenas as he crashed to the dirt, and Enoch, seeing him, grabbed me and hid me behind his back.
“Did you do this, Enoch?”
“No.”
Enoch shook his head at my question. Then who attacked Jenas?
At the same time, I saw the barrier Jenas had put up disappear and people rushing toward me.
A moment later, I saw the figure of a man lying on the ground. He slowly raised himself to his feet, sighed, and ran a hand through his hair.
Then his mouth opened.
“Hey.”
A familiar voice.
“It’s me.”
A low mutter cut through the tense silence.
“I told you I wouldn’t let you touch Margaret, you bastard.”
Hearing the voice, I tightened my grip on the flare gun. My lips quivered.
Kayden is back again.
