Can't Come Back - Chapter 35
Discord Server: Hush Mittens
“Hmm…”
Berlia remembers not being able to name her child when still in her womb, but there was nothing she could do in the current situation. It was a time when she had to temporarily set aside the child’s name.
Berlia surrendered herself to Cain’s touch, a quiet apology to the kid in her heart. Her garments had been pulled up, exposing her lower body. Her body trembled slightly when she was exposed to the cool night air. The attic window was blown open by the night breeze.
Cain tenderly stroked Berlia’s lovely physique. The moonlight streamed through the attic window. Berlia’s golden hair cascaded down her back as she lay on the floor. In the moonlight, it seemed to sparkle even brighter. Cain glanced down at her and thought she was stunning.
“Ah…”
“Berlia.”
Cain massaged her slim stomach tenderly. Although it wasn’t visible on the outside, her tummy would eventually enlarge as the child grew.
“Please, please, please let it be my child.”
Cain bowed and kissed her stomach. A sweet kiss echoed through the small attic. It was a more fervent kiss. Cain gradually undid her one-piece gown. Her bare body was eventually shown. Cain kissed Berlia’s entire body. Berlia took tiny breaths every time he moved.
It was a comfortable touch, but it didn’t dull the senses. On the contrary, knowing what was about to happen increased the suspense.
“Ah.”
Berlia’s personal area was already drenched in transparent fluid. It was proof of her arousal. Cain stretched her legs carefully, displaying Berlia’s private spot between her thighs.
Cain, who was standing in front of her, forced his member on Berlia’s wet intimate area. She felt his hot, firm member make contact with her. Despite the fact that he had visited her insides countless times before, the prospect of him returning made her tense, as if it were unavoidable.
“Ah…”
He made a hip movement. Cain’s member crept within her.
“Tight… It’s a little narrow.”
Was it because of the baby in her womb? Her inner borders felt narrower than usual, just as the child would push Cain away, insisting that this was their home.
“Ah…”
His hips didn’t stop moving until Cain’s member had completely filled Berlia’s body. He plunged himself firmly within her, thrusting until the very root, then withdrawing again.
“Ah, ah! Cain!”
“Berlia, Vera.”
Cain braced himself by grabbing the floor with one hand. The other hand clutched Berlia’s hand, their gazes locked as they desperately shouted out one other’s names. Berlia’s body trembled as a result of Cain’s influence. It was tremendously sensual while yet being gorgeous.
“Ah, ah!”
Berlia became engrossed in the sensations of Cain’s constant thrusts. It was more intense than usual. She even imagined his member meeting their child within her womb.
“Vera!”
Cain’s hip movements became faster and faster. As a result, Berlia’s body began to shake more violently. She gave herself her body to the pleasure Cain offered.
This was their first personal contact after discovering she was pregnant with his child. She had feared they would never be able to experience such love again. It was only for a little minute, but she had considered that this connection should never have happened. Cain, on the other hand, was directly in front of her. He had her wrapped in his arms. What a beautiful thing it would be if she could love him like this forever. Berlia prayed to God, if there was one, to grant her wish.
“Ah, it… feels too good, too much…!”
Her rapture erupted with each thrust into her depths. Cain, too, felt an innate need to continue penetrating her. His member seemed to belong inside Berlia, exactly where it was.
Cain imagined that this moment would last indefinitely. If not, he wanted to keep loving her in this way. He prayed that the child within her would be his. It was unquestionably a sin for his sister-in-law to bear his child. But his desire to possess her outweighed any shame. Although it would be natural for Cain to wish for his brother’s child if he truly loved Berlia, he couldn’t bring himself to do so.
“Haah, haah!”
It was fine for him to have a physical relationship with her at first. It was enough for him to get this close to her. But not right now. He hoped he could have her all. He didn’t want to give any of her to his brother, who had taken her away from him.
He moved quickly, plunging himself deep within her.
“Ah…!”
“Ah…!”
And with that, the two of them had achieved the pinnacle of pleasure.
* * *
A luxury carriage emblazoned with the Hildayden Duchy’s insignia raced through the empire’s streets. The carriage’s small window was opened, revealing Riley’s face. She had a cheerful expression on her face as she looked out the window.
“The capital is opulent and lovely. It wasn’t wonderful because Keindell doesn’t have a lot of lovely clothes for me to buy.”
Riley appeared ecstatic. Her existence in Keindell was to be envied, but it wasn’t enough for her. She desired a more glamorous lifestyle.
“Is there something you want to do in the capital, Riley?”
“Of course,” she says. “I’d like to get a necklace and new shoes!”
Riley replied as if she had been anticipating Dean’s question.
“I’d also like to see opera performances. Isn’t it beneficial to the baby’s prenatal education?”
Riley stroked her own belly softly.
“The baby wants to try the cakes from the famous dessert shop in the city center, too.”
Riley gazed at Dean, his eyes wide with excitement.
“Will you do it for me?”
Riley cuddled close to Dean and inquired coquettishly. He nodded and made an endearing face at Riley.
Dean didn’t mind using the child as a pretext to do the things she wanted to do, despite his realization.
“Duke Hildayden should be able to do that much.”
‘When women behave cute like this, they are at their finest.’
He was smitten with Riley’s coquettishness. Riley smiled as he nodded.
“As is to be expected, the Duke is the best!”
Dean gazed at Riley’s side profile, who was avidly peering out the window. A young and attractive face, flushed with joy. It was cute, but not particularly lovely.
‘She definitely has a big chest,’ he said.
In truth, his wife Berlia was considerably more attractive. Dean, on the other hand, was not drawn to Berlia for some reason.
‘I’m curious why that is.’
Berlia looked to be buried in her own thoughts all the time. Despite accepting his proposal and increasing her rank by becoming Duchess, she did not act affectionately toward him, her husband, and did not even respond well in bed. As a result, Dean assumed it was natural for him to get tired of her.
‘Now that Riley is pregnant with my child, the succession question is no longer an issue, although it’s a shame the child is born of a maid.’
The issue of succession to the Hildayden Duchy was likely to be resolved with her pregnancy. Even if the child was a girl, he believed that if they continued to have children, a male would be born someday.
Dean, on the other hand, thought something was missing. He wasn’t delighted that the kid who would be his heir was of commoner ancestry.
‘It’s undoubtedly due to Berlia.’
A Duchess who is unable to bear a child. Furthermore, she was not a decent wife in terms of taking care of her husband. They couldn’t even get along in bed. Given all of this, it was puzzling why she was his wife.
Of course, he believed her stunning appearance was enough at first, but now that he thinks about it, he regrets it.
‘I’ve seen enough of Cain’s frantic expression; it’s no longer relevant.’
What Dean really desired was an heir of aristocratic blood. He wouldn’t mind if Berlia could bear him a kid, but since she hadn’t been pregnant in three years, the chances looked remote.
‘It would be good to have a male heir, so maybe a new wife wouldn’t be so bad?’
Nobles throughout the empire divorced and married new spouses on occasion. And if the reason was inability to have a kid, divorce was simple.
‘I saw a gorgeous young lady from Count Marundy’s house at a ball earlier. Viscount Dranbule’s young lady was likewise pleasant.’
Dean smirked to himself, remembering the lovely unmarried nobles’ expressions.
This was a different thought than Riley’s, who was certain that the kid she would bear would become the next Duke. The carriage carrying the two people with opposing views was heading towards the Hildayden house. Riley and Dean, who had remained in Keindell, were finally returning to the empire’s capital.

“Today, my brother is returning.”
“…I know.”
Berlia nodded decisively, as if she had made a firm decision. Cain unwittingly snickered because he thought she was cute.
“Why, why, why are you laughing?”
“Nothing at all. Berlia, you’re just too cute.”
Berlia was certainly brighter than she had been three months before. Cain enjoyed her new look. If only they could keep going like this. Three months had mercilessly passed him by, and he was overwhelmed with remorse.
“When would be a good time to tell my husband?”
Berlia inquired about the best moment to inform Dean about the child.
“Since we’ll be having dinner together, it seems best to tell him then.”
Berlia nodded again. Dean’s arrival was approaching. They headed downstairs together to get ready to greet Dean.
“He’s here.”
The mansion’s front door gently opened a few moments later. Berlia’s gaze was drawn to it. Dean was being transported in a magnificent carriage through the estate grounds. The carriage came to a halt in front of the front door. The servants of the mansion were all eager to greet the master, who had returned after a lengthy absence. Berlia and Cain, of course, were among them.
The carriage’s door was opened by a footman. Dean was the first to leave, followed by Riley.
Riley, now dressed in a beautiful gown, held her head high and glanced at the saluting footmen and maidservants, unlike when she had departed for Keindell. She had a confident expression, as if she had never been a maid.
Her hair gems had grown much larger than before. Berlia had an idea of how many nights Dean and Riley had spent together in Keindell.
‘I would have been sad before, but now I don’t feel anything.’
If it had been Berlia three months earlier, she would have been surprised to see the other lady who had become close to her husband. But not right now. Berlia has Cain. She had a man who adored her.
That’s why Dean’s adultery didn’t disturb her. Berlia didn’t think it would matter if he married Riley as his second wife.
“You’re back.”
Dean was greeted by Berlia.
“How has my lady been? My examination of Keindell went well.”
“My lady, or should I say, Duchess. How have you been?”
Riley greeted Berlia as soon as Dean stopped speaking. Riley had changed dramatically in three months, not just in appearance but in many other ways as well. Her attitude was confident, whether it was because she believed in Dean’s adoration. Berlia was even referred to as ‘Duchess’ by her.
“It’s great to see you back, Riley. Betty has been assisting in your absence.”
Berlia deduced from Riley’s demeanor that she would not return to be her maid. Perhaps, as she had suspected, Riley had unintentionally become Dean’s second wife.
But that didn’t matter to Berlia. Betty, who was currently serving her, was plenty for her.
“Unfortunately, Betty will have to continue to assist.”
“What exactly do you mean by that?”
Berlia pretended to be unaware and inquired. Riley glanced at Dean, unable to find a response to her query. She appeared to be hoping that Dean would speak for her. What Dean said, however, was not what Riley had hoped for.
“Let’s continue this discussion over dinner. For the time being, I’m going in.”
Dean appeared irritated. Riley’s face showed a trace of disappointment, but she quickly recovered her former expression. She convinced herself that she shouldn’t be unhappy about it.
‘It’s fine, my child will be a duke. When I reveal my pregnancy over dinner, everyone will be surprised. The Duchess, in particular, will be taken aback.’
Dean led her into the mansion. Hehe. Riley grinned quietly to herself. When they arrived at the mansion, Dean requested that a room be readied for her. Riley no longer has to return to the room she previously shared with other maids as of today. Within the mansion, she now had her own room.
‘I’m overjoyed. I wish it was already dinner time.’
A spacious room reserved just for her. Riley took great significance in just that fact.
The meal was nearly like a feast with luxury cuisine because the Duke, the ruler of the mansion, had returned after a lengthy absence. Another difference was that there were now four seats prepared in the dining room. Riley sat in the extra chair at the wide, round table.
Dean appeared to be keeping his vow to accept Riley as his second wife. Riley couldn’t help but brace her heart when she saw the chair.
‘I, I, I’m in this chair…’
It was a location she had only seen before. A seat reserved for the mansion’s masters, where she had never sat. Riley unknowingly swallowed her saliva forcefully.
Riley cast a glance around. Cain and Berlia had already taken their seats. Riley’s seat was just across from Berlia’s.
Riley took her seat with grace, as if she genuinely became the Duchess, remembering the manners of the royal ladies she had observed.
“Hmm, uh, ahem.”
She purposefully cleared her throat to announce her presence. The dining room, on the other hand, was deafeningly quiet. Riley received no extra attention from Cain or Berlia.
Riley’s behavior was within the parameters that Cain and Berlia had predicted. They were unsurprised by Riley’s entrance because Dean looked unconcerned about her. They simply assumed she’d be utilized as a spy.
Riley, on the other hand, appeared to believe that if she sat in this seat, the two of them would be startled. She had hoped, at the very least, that they would notice her. Riley’s dignity was damaged because she did not receive that.
‘They’re clearly ignoring me now. Perhaps it’s because I’m still a maid. Can they do so even after they discover I’m carrying the Duke’s child?’
They would undoubtedly be surprised. She reflected to herself. She wanted Dean to hurry up and tell the good news.

I kinda feel for the new “wife”… since the duchess is also pregnant
